How to add SMTP authentication to Microsoft Outlook 2003

Requirements: In order to use this type of SMTP authentication you need to have a connectivity account with ScottNET. So either an ADSL or dial up account.

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Got to Tools > E-mail Accounts
  3. View or change existing email accounts should be selected, click Next >
  4. In the new windows that opens find your pop3 email account and click Change
  5. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box change the server to smtpauth2.cybersmart.co.za
  6. Click More Settings...
  7. Click the tab "Outgoing Server"
  8. Tick the box that says: "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
  9. Click Settings and in the new windows select Log on using enter your ADSL username and password (tick remember password)

Please note your ADSL username and password is different to your email username and password, should you not know what your ADSL username and password is please email support@scottnet.co.za or alternatively contact our offices.
